When you are ready for a break\, take a narrated Farm Tour Wagon Ride through Cherry Crest’s 200-acre cattle\, poultry\, and farming operations. \nWe have 9 different food venues on the farm to enjoy. Have a snack on the go or sit down for lunch\, or dinner. Food options range from meals like fresh smoked pulled pork sandwiches\, burgers\, tenders and fresh roasted sweet corn to snacks like kettle corn (made from scratch right here at the farm) and deserts like our delicious cider donuts. SUMMARY:13th Annual Lancaster Native Plant and Wildlife Festival
DESCRIPTION:Manheim Township Department of Parks and Recreation presents the 13th annual Lancaster Native Plant and Wildlife Festival on Saturday\, April 27\, from 8 am to 1 pm at Overlook Park on Granite Run Drive. This year’s event will showcase 19 local environmental organizations\, 6 native plant nurseries\, and many artisans. \nKids activities include a scavenger hunt\, coloring stations\, and PA native animals’ presentation. Inside the Manheim Township Public Library\, across the street from the vendor area\, Raven Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will present at 9 am. \nThese activities are provided completely free thanks to the Manheim Township Department of Parks and Recreation\, LandStudies of Lititz\, and a volunteer club called Habitat Manheim Township\, who seeks to educate the public about the benefits of native plants for the ecosystem and the community through education and by example. Overlook Park\, Landis Woods\, and Stauffer Mansion\, all part of the Manheim Township park system\, have examples of native plant gardens. \n“Whether you’re a native plant nerd\, a hobby gardener\, or just enjoy being outside in beautiful Pennsylvania\, this festival is for you\,” said Environmental Education Program Manager\, Alex Van Pelt. \nAt 10:15 am\, Lisa Doseff\, author of Grandma Lisa’s Garden\, will present “An Engaging Garden Where Children and Wildlife Thrive.” At 11:15 am\, Dan Shuff of LandStudies will present “Native Plant Selection for Beauty and Food.” \nLater\, at 12:15 pm\, Dr. Jorge A. Santiago-Blay will present “Let us Talk About Redbuds\, Cercis canadensis.” Dr. Santiago-Blay is a Research Associate in the Department of Paleobiology at the National Museum of Natural History. He is also a recipient of the 2024 Pojeta Award from the Paleontological Society\, an International Nonprofit founded in 1908. \nThis is a great opportunity for the citizens of Lancaster County and beyond to learn more about the many native plant gardening and wildlife experts and enthusiasts that will be at the festival. All speakers and activities are completely free\, and no registration is required. \nFree parking is available throughout the Overlook Park Complex. The festival takes place rain or shine. It will be a celebration of Irish and Irish American culture featuring a buffet dinner and a concert of Irish music in a fun\, safe\, sober\, and family friendly environment. \nThe celebration will be held after the Stroudsburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 24\, 2024. It will be in Terraview at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn\, 257 Stroudsmoor Road\, Stroudsburg\, PA 18360\, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. \nThe mission of Sober St. Patrick’s Day® is to reclaim the true spirit of St. Patrick’s Day by changing the perception and experience from an occasion for binge drinking and other misuse of alcohol or other drugs to a celebration of the richness of the Irish culture and the legacy of St. Patrick. \n“We are excited to partner with The Sober St. Patrick’s Day® Foundation\, Inc. to further their mission to dispel the unflattering stereotypes of the drunken Irish\, and that Irish culture and heritage are synonyms with drunkenness by providing an alternative way for people to celebrate that isn’t focused on alcohol and drinking.
