Chronically Strong presents Trauma Informed Care 101/102 Delivered by Wellspan
Chronically Strong is committed to bringing education to our communities that focus on mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Join us as we host this Trauma Informed Care 101 & 102 Training, delivered by Wellspan Health-Philhaven during Suicide Prevention Week.
Trauma Informed Care (TIC) is an approach that assumes that an individual is more likely than not to have a history of trauma. TIC recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges that role trauma may play in an individual’s life. TIC requires a paradigm shift from “what is wrong with this person” to “what has happend to this person.”
Trauma Informed Care 101
Trauma Informed Care 101 is a 2-hour training that explores the impact of trauma on a person’s life. Recognizing that 67% of the population has experienced at least one traumatic event in their lifetime, this multi-media, interactive workshop helps participants work together to build a powerful image that helps them appreciate the complex nature of trauma and its aftermath.
Trauma Informed Care 102
Trauma Informed Care 102 is a 2-hour training that builds on information provided in Trauma 101. Individuals expand their understanding of trauma and are provided specific skills that enhance abilities to interact in emotionally and relationally healthy ways with people impacted by trauma.
We are shortening this course by just a bit so that attendees will also have the option to attend the QPR Suicide Prevention Training that begins at 1 pm. You MUST be registered. Register by following this link.
Space is limited to a maximum of 30 participants. This training will take place inside the PA Council of Churches. Refreshments will be provided.
Please be aware that this training is very in-depth and, at times, may trigger participants to recall uncomfortable events as they learn about trauma. While there will be a couple of trained volunteers to meet with you should you need to during or after the meeting, this training may bring up feelings that you may not have known that you have. It is important to know that while we will offer compassionate listening, this is not intended to take the place of professional therapy and/or counseling.
