Kicking off the Summer Reading Program: Oceans of Possibilities with a party on the lawn.
Fun event for all ages to celebrate the start of the Summer Reading season and discovering an Ocean of Possibilities at your local library. There will be games & prizes, give-aways, a bounce house, an ice cream truck, and of course children can register for Summer Reading to log their progress and earn prizes contributed by Lancaster County businesses.
The Strasburg-Heisler Library is one of the busiest libraries (per capita) in the state of PA! During the summer, thousands visit to check out arm-loads of items and attend the fun and educational programs we host.
Studies prove that children who participate in library summer reading programs avoid the “summer slide”. Reading increases focus, kids who read have broader vocabularies and are more confident writers. Readers are also more compassionate towards others. As they read, they get emotionally involved with the characters and are empathetic towards them, which translates over into their real lives.
Along with the latest best sellers, the Strasburg-Heisler Library has thousands of movies and TV series on DVD, toys, games, puzzles, STEM and outdoor exploration kits, musical instruments, passes to visit local museums, and even binoculars to view the craters on the moon, for you to use free of charge with your library card.
