Poconos Sober St. Patrick's Day

Looking for a really fun event that the whole family can participate in to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? You won’t want to miss this one.

The Metzgar Family of Sciota, Pennsylvania has partnered with the Sober St. Patrick’s Day® Foundation, Inc. from New York City to bring the first ever Sober St. Patrick’s Day® celebration to the Poconos. It will be a celebration of Irish and Irish American culture featuring a buffet dinner and a concert of Irish music in a fun, safe, sober, and family friendly environment.

The celebration will be held after the Stroudsburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 24, 2024. It will be in Terraview at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn, 257 Stroudsmoor Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The mission of Sober St. Patrick’s Day® is to reclaim the true spirit of St. Patrick’s Day by changing the perception and experience from an occasion for binge drinking and other misuse of alcohol or other drugs to a celebration of the richness of the Irish culture and the legacy of St. Patrick.

“We are excited to partner with The Sober St. Patrick’s Day® Foundation, Inc. to further their mission to dispel the unflattering stereotypes of the drunken Irish, and that Irish culture and heritage are synonyms with drunkenness by providing an alternative way for people to celebrate that isn’t focused on alcohol and drinking. Our hope is that everyone feels welcome and comfortable in this environment.” said Rachel Metzgar, event organizer.

Ticket includes an evening of Irish music and a three course buffet dinner. The buffet will feature the traditional Irish American corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, soda bread, dessert, and more! Iced tea, coffee, tea, and gratuity are included.

Music will be performed by:

Gary Dillon.

Gary Dillon is a versatile, multi instrumental artist, playing guitar, fiddle, and banjo. He will be drawing on his wide range of musical knowledge to bring an engaging set of Irish music.

Gerry Timlin

Gerry Timlin was born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He is much loved by his audiences and has been entertaining them all over the world with his Irish folk songs and storytelling.

Killen, Clark, and Friends
